Oilfield Drilling Fluid Emulsifier Validation
Regional oilfield service companies and drilling fluid formulators — raw material screening and second-source validation for oil-based and synthetic-based systems.
Problems we hear from formulators
- OBM/SBM systems demand tight control of emulsion stability, wettability and rheology
- Well conditions, oil–water ratio, salt/calcium contamination and solids all affect emulsifier compatibility
- A second source is needed, but nobody can afford wellsite risk from a direct swap
Our approach
A lab-first, staged path: samples and manufacturer documentation matched to your system type, current products and target performance — building a traceable backup supply source before any field introduction.
Validate first. Then build a reliable second source.
Recommended product routes
| Role | Recommended products | Application value |
|---|---|---|
| Initial screening | Span 80 | Oil-phase emulsification and system stability screening |
| Compatibility comparison | PEG400DO | Compatibility and stability route comparison |
| Custom blends | Tailor-made compounds | Tested per your system after manufacturer confirms grade, documents and application boundary |
Suggested validation path
- Confirm system type, oil–water ratio, density, temperature, salt/calcium conditions and primary/secondary emulsifier needs
- Lab-compare emulsion stability, rheology, fluid loss, wettability, sag stability and contamination tolerance
- After passing lab tests, proceed to supplier qualification and small-batch validation with the operator
